Summary

SUMMARY:

The Registered Nurse is a member of the perioperative team working with physicians, CRNAs, surgical technologists, and other personnel in delivering quality patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during and after surgery. The registered nurse utilizes the nursing process within a focused care environment in providing direct and indirect care to patients to achieve the mission of the organization of outstanding patient care. Maintains a positive attitude in the work environment. Maintains professional competencies by attending educational programs, participates in professional organizations, subscribing to the reading professional journals or other appropriate activities. Patients of all ages served.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION
Graduate from a nursing program required.  Baccalaureate or Masters in Nursing preferred.  A minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing must be obtained within five years for those hired into an RN position on or after May 1, 2014. A minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing must be obtained within three (3) years for those hired into an RN position on or after October 1, 2018.

EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of nursing standards, policies, procedures and ethics.  Previous experience in perioperative or surgical experience preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Minnesota required.  Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required per established policy.  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required (with the exception of casual staff).  Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required (with the exception of casual staff).  National Certification in a Nursing Specialty preferred.
