The role of the ultrasonographer is to aide the physician in the care of the patient. This is done by scanning and recording quality images. Good communication with the staff, providers and the patient is a necessity, although discretion and good judgement must be practiced when giving information to the patient. Must also participate with other daily tasks and communicate with other staff to maintain flow and efficiency throughout the clinic.
Must have successfully completed formal training at an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or be ARRT certified with 2 years of experience performing ultrasound exams.
Office skills required include: to file accurately, working knowledge of computer keyboards and basic computer skills.
Must stay current with CEU’s. Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required per established policy. Must be registered by the ARDMS with credentials in OB/GYN. Must be registered by the ARDMS with credentials in ABD within 1 year of hire date.
