Bob and JoAnn Thueringer Nursing Scholarship

Bob and JoAnn Thueringer have dedicated their lives to service and leadership. Bob graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud and St. Cloud State University. Joann graduated from New Ulm High School and St. Cloud Hospital School of Nursing. Bob retired as Chief Operating Officer from Coborn’s Inc. after 47 years exemplifying his commitment to excellence and perseverance. JoAnn began her nursing journey in 1971 at the St. Cloud Hospital. She held various leadership positions over 42 years before retiring, leaving a lasting impact on healthcare in our community. Their shared experiences and values have inspired them to establish this scholarship, aiming to support and empower future generations in pursuing their educational aspirations in nursing.


Application Period: March 1 - April 30

Initial scholarship recipients will be announced during nurses week.


To be eligible for consideration an applicant must:

  • Be a CentraCare employee
  • Be enrolled in a nursing degree program pursuing one of the following degrees:
    • Associate's
    • Bachelor's
    • Master's
    • Doctoral
  • Demonstrate qualifications through references, work experience, and professional nursing goals and achievements.


Each applicant must:

  • Complete the application form by submission date
  • Attach a letter of enrollment
  • Complete essays as requested on the application
  • Request two letters of reference which must be received by the application deadline.
