Student/Resident Rotation

MD, DO, DPM, CNM, APP/APRN/DNP, CRNA or GC programs

If you are in a residency program or are enrolled in a MD, DO, DPM, CNM, APP/APRN/DNP, CRNA or GC program and are interested in a rotation experience at a CentraCare location, please carefully review and complete each of the following sections.

Please note that all requests for rotations must go through CentraCare. Solicitation of physicians/APPs is prohibited.

Applicant Instructions for All Residents, Fellows and UMN MD Clerkships

Step 1:

Please complete the Application to CentraCare for UMN Clerkships and ALL Residents and ALL Fellows, and sign pages 1 and 2. Complete and sign the COVID/Influenza Declination form on the last page of the application if you do not have COVID or flu vaccination documentation for this season.

Step 2:

Submit your application to MedStudents@centracare.com along with all the required documentation specified on the application. To ensure all requirements are provided upon submission, a checklist is available following the application.

APP/MD/DO Learners

CentraCare is currently not accepting APP or MD/DO applications for rotation until 07/01/24, at which time you will be able to apply for rotations through Clinician Nexus. Here's a quick Getting Started Guide from Clinician Nexus. More information will be added to this website on 07/01/24.

We're excited to let you know that effective 07/01/24 we will be using a new platform, Clinician Nexus, to manage our student clinical experiences and internships.

Clinician Nexus helps us manage and centralize:

  • Affiliation agreements
  • Student applications
  • Student schedules
  • Student and faculty onboarding
  • Faculty, preceptor, student, and site evaluations

This platform improves communication between clinical sites, schools, and students. Your use of the platform to schedule rotations with us will be free. If you would like to use the platform with other clinical sites, they have options on their website at cliniciannexus.com/schools.

Disclaimers:
Applicant and Program Representative, please review.

  1. CentraCare has elected to focus on those programs with a campus component or hybrid format (online plus on campus) and will not be partnering with solely online programs or providing rotations to students who enroll in exclusively online programs.
  2. Rotation requests from APP applicants who are not currently employed by CentraCare will be considered starting 3 months prior to the requested start date.
  3. If an APP student is not a current or previous CentraCare employee, does not have a connection to Minnesota, is in a non-Minnesota program or is not interested in future employment at CentraCare — a rotation is unlikely due to the high volume of requests.
  4. All application materials must be received to MedStudents@centracare.com at least 6 weeks prior to the student’s rotation start date.
  5. Submission of required application and documentation material does not mean a rotation has been approved.
  6. A CentraCare student facilitator will notify the program representative if the requested rotation has been approved or if unable to accommodate a rotation experience.
  7. Applications with missing documentation will not be considered.
  8. Please allow up to three weeks to receive a response pertaining to rotation availability.
  9. If a requested rotation is no longer needed, the CentraCare student facilitator must be immediately notified.
  10. Once a preceptor/schedule has been determined, no adjustments can be made. Students must be willing to work around the preceptor’s schedule and travel to at any of the CentraCare service area locations. The student is responsible for reliable transportation.
