Summary

**This position has a supplemental Cardiac Monitor Technician responsibility**

PCA:  Supports quality patient care needs by performing delegated patient care and non-patient care tasks.  Responsible for assisting the patient care team in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established policies, procedures, and unit standards to achieve the hospital mission of competent, Christian, holistic patient care. Adult and Geriatric populations are the primary focus of care provided.  Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate. Supports and demonstrates Family Centered Care principles when interacting with patients, their families, and with co-workers.

EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training course is preferred, or orientation will be given to obtain desired competence in lieu of experience.

EXPERIENCE
Basic knowledge of PCA duties and responsibilities required.  

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card preferred.

Cardiac Monitor Tech:  Functions in a capacity that involves the monitoring and interpretation of patients’ heart rhythms via a centralized cardiac monitoring system.  Functions as a communication link for patients on a cardiac monitor, participates in coordination of patient care, and provides support to nursing staff. Provides care to patients 17 years of age and older.  Implements and abides by Customer Service Standards.  Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate.  Supports and demonstrates Family Centered Care principles when interacting with patients and their families and with co-workers. 
  
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent required.  Basic Rhythm Strip Interpretation or like experience preferred. 
 
EXPERIENCE
Previous EKG interpretation preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.  Good communication and interpersonal skills required.  Orientation and training will be given to obtain the desired entry-level competence, in lieu of, experience.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Basic EKG interpretation preferred.
