Summary

 

JOB SUMMARY:
Speech-Language Pathologists provide services to patients of all ages to prevent, assess, alleviate or correct speech, language, cognitive or swallowing dysfunction. Services are provided in the inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facility, and home health settings. Responsible for evaluating patient needs, establishing treatment plans and providing treatments/services accordingly. May work with patients on an individual and/or group basis using current technology, treatment techniques and modalities consistent with department and hospital policies and procedures. Implements and abides by Customer Service Standards. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate. Supports and demonstrates Family Centered Care principles when interacting with patients and their families and with co-workers.

EDUCATION:

 
  • Master’s degree in Communication Disorders from an accredited university required

EXPERIENCE:
  • Prior clinical or field experience must provide clear evidence of clinical skills consistent with basic entry level positions.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Current State of Minnesota Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Registration required (to include a CFY Temporary License from the State of Minnesota).
    • Certificate of Clinical Competencies (CCCs) from ASHA required or certification required upon completion of Clinical Fellowship Year.
      • Current American Health Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required to completion of unit orientation.

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Specific clinical training in areas of special interest such as dysphagia, neurogenic disorders and pediatric patient treatment desired.

      ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
