Medical Students

The University of Minnesota Medical School – CentraCare Regional Campus St. Cloud opened Fall 2025. Requests for clinical rotations are now requested through the AAMC’s Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO®) application service.

CentraCare will work in collaboration with the University of Minnesota. Please visit Visiting Students for details about the process.

Courses available can be found in the VSLO® Catalog by entering “CentraCare” in the Search Criteria box.

EXCEPTION -
University of North Dakota Medical Students:

Family Medicine rotations in BENSON can continue to be requested through Clinician Nexus.

Visiting Residents or Fellows

All applications must be received at least 5 weeks prior to the rotation start date.

Questions can be directed to ClinicianExperience@centracare.com.

1. Create an account in Clinician Nexus: Sign up for a free account

2. Search for: General Opportunity for APP Students, Residents, & Fellows.

3. Complete all application steps at the time of application.

All requirements must be submitted by the deadline outlined in Clinician Nexus to guarantee an on-time start date. Failure to comply will result in a delayed start or rotation cancellation.
An academic affiliation with CentraCare is required.

4. CentraCare will approve, waitlist, or decline applications in Clinician Nexus based on organizational prioritization, capacity, and regulatory guidelines. Application submission does not guarantee rotation approval.

5. Learners and Program Coordinators are responsible for monitoring onboarding progress and responding promptly. The institution must designate someone to handle all requests during any absence. Failure to respond may result in lost opportunities for the learner.

Advanced Practice Provider, LMFT, LPCC, and CGC Student Rotation Information

CentraCare does not offer rotations to online-only programs. Programs must require advanced clinical assessment skills training while on campus.
Solicitation of preceptors or presenting students with predetermined preceptors is strictly prohibited. Failure to follow this process may result in rotations being declined.
Rotations may be secured at any site within the CentraCare service area locations which includes Albany, Baxter, Becker, Benson, Big Lake, Clearwater, Cold Spring, Eden Valley, Litchfield, Long Prairie, Melrose, Monticello, New London, Paynesville, Redwood Falls, Richmond, Sartell, Sauk Centre, St. Cloud, St. Joseph, and Willmar.

a. Once a preceptor/ schedule has been identified adjustments will not be made.

b. Students must be willing to work around the preceptor’s availability

APP applications for students not currently or formerly employed by CentraCare will not be considered until 4 months prior to the requested start date.

DNP Project Information

1. Email Amanda Kvamme at amanda.kvamme@centracare.com to request a project application.

Nursing Research Review Board (NRRB) approval is required prior to starting projects.
Some projects require department approval prior to NRRB approval.
